CityLeaks Urban Art Festival | DIE STADT DIE ES NICHT GIBT in Köln
CityLeaks presents an indoor exhibition this year under the festival motto „The City that does not exist“. The group exhibition is housed at the festival centre at Carlswerk in Cologne-Mülheim. The positions presented in the exhibition deal with the urban and public space. On the one hand this space is ruled by the ever growing globalisation on the other hand by cultural developed structures. How spatial, social and emotional structures influence our behavioural patterns and which responsibilities and scope of action stem from there are questions the exhibition is asking. The artists on display play with the characteristics and roles of spatial diversity that build the urban cosmos. As diverse as the urban space and the people inhabiting it are the presented works. The exhibition includes works of more than thirty local and international artists with many different backgrounds such as painting, sculpture, photography, video and performance art as well as installations.

PR Info _ „Die Stadt die es nicht gibt“ – unter diesem Titel präsentiert CityLeaks eine Gruppenausstellung in der Festival Zentrale auf dem Carlswerk Gelände in Köln Mülheim, die sich konzeptionell mit der Dialektik des urbanen, öffentlichen Raumes auseinandersetzt. Dieser Raum wird einerseits bestimmt durch die stetig zunehmende Globalisierung, Ökonomisierung und Effektivitätssteigerung, andererseits durch individuell, sozial und kulturell gewachsene Gefüge. Die Ausstellung hinterfragt wie diese Dialektik unser Leben in der Stadt beeinflusst und wie räumliche, soziale und emotionale Strukturen unsere Verhaltensmuster prägen, aber auch, welche Verantwortungen und Handlungsspielräume für das Individuum entstehen. Die Positionen in der Ausstellung thematisieren den urbanen Raum, indem sie sich an Raumtheorien bedienen und diese künstlerisch verhandeln. Sie spielen mit den Merkmalen und Funktionen der mannigfaltigen Räume, aus denen sich der städtische Kosmos konstituiert. So vielfältig wie der urbane Raum und die Menschen, die in ihm agieren, so vielfältig sind auch die ausgestellten Werke. Die Kuration umfasst Arbeiten von mehr als dreißig lokalen sowie internationalen KünstlerInnen aus unterschiedlichen Bereichen wie Malerei, Skulptur, Fotografie, Video, Performance und Installation.
