Josh von Staudach explores the experimental possibilities of panoramic photography. He takes photos of the foundations of the construction of shopping centers at night. We see delicate, abstract structures of vertical beams and horizontal surfaces, which seem to dissolve in a picturesque transparency. His approach is ambivalent – a fascination with these non-places, yet a critical questioning of the fragile look of theses foundations of our consumption temples. Who or what are the pillars of our society? And how stable are they?

PR Info _ In seiner 2013/2014 entstandenen Serie „Die Stützen der Gesellschaft“ erforscht Josh von Staudach die experimentellen Möglichkeiten der Panoramafotografie. Was er fotografiert, sind die Fundamente der Baustellen von Einkaufszentren bei Nacht. Was man sieht, ist ein filigranes, abstrakt anmutendes Geflecht vertikaler Strahlen und horizontaler Flächen, das sich in malerischer Transparenz aufzulösen scheint.
Das Verhältnis von Josh von Staudach zu Baustellen ist von Ambivalenz geprägt. Aus den Fotografien spricht die Faszination für das Prozesshafte und das Potential der Veränderung, das diesen Nicht-Orten zu Eigen ist. Aber ebenso hinterfragt die gläserne und fragile Optik der Fundamente von zukünftigen Konsumtempeln subtil das Wertesystem unserer sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Gefüge:
Wer oder was sind eigentlich die Stützen unserer Gesellschaft? Und wie stabil sind sie wirklich?
