INTERVIEW

What is Architects + Artisans?

Architects + Artisans is a sophisticated, well-informed curator of content and images that document the development of architecture, artisanship and sustainability for the 21st century. It ‘s not just about designers – but about the people and products that make a well-designed place ring true.
It was established in 2010, with daily posts by the editor and guests almost every day since then.

Who founded and edits Architects + Artisans?

It’s written and edited by J. Michael Welton, whose work on architecture, art and design has appeared in a number of national and international publications, for example in the Washington Post, dwell.com or archrecord.construction.com.

Why did you embark on a project like Architects + Artisans, what are the objectives?

I strive to chronicle, in narrative as well as brief online formats, the zeitgeist associated with a particular design, whether related to social situations, economic forces, cultural shifts, or historical precedents. With A+A, I’m stepping out beyond print into a online magazine of my own – where good design and those who create it can be illuminated, demonstrated and discussed.

Who does  Architects + Artisans address?

A + A strives to wire itself into the coolest design trends on the planet. Its audience includes architects, interior designers and those who appreciate the work of both. It seeks to link itself to, and honor the opinions of, those who wish to do the same. Ultimately, this is an online magazine dedicated to the concept of creating a community where thoughtful design for a sustainable world is not a phrase, but a way of living and working.

Thank you Mike!
